ANXIETY

Anxiety is all about worry – constant and unrelenting worry. It can be related to one thing or everything. There are over 100 different signs of anxiety, including:

  • Exhaustion
  • Nausea
  • Chest pain
  • Dizziness
  • Intense, short periods of anxiety that come out of nowhere
  • Obsessions
  • Compulsions
  • An overall sense that something bad will happen in the future

It’s important to remember that everyone experiences anxiety from time to time – that’s normal. It’s when the worry is constant and overwhelming that it can become a serious problem. I often say that anxiety is like a hamster wheel – once you get on it, it can just go around and around and around with absolutely no end in sight. While it might be practical to avoid confronting the issue for a while, it eventually it becomes pretty impossible to ignore.

COUNSELING PROCESS

Anxiety (and any issue for that matter) is personal and individual, so your experience with anxiety may be different than someone else’s. That’s a big reason why therapy can be so helpful. My goal is to provide a safe space to process your experience, at a pace that’s right for you.

I truly believe that you are the expert in your own life- I’m just here to help you access and use that expertise. Together, we can actually figure out where your anxiety is coming from. This means not only learning what your triggers are, but also why they trigger you in the first place. Since I’m eclectic in my technique, I can help you manage your day-to-day responsibilities by developing skills to use in the moment as well.
